Say Cheese -teos syntyi päivänä, jolloin halusin maalata jotain kevyttä, iloista ja hieman leikkisää. Taustalla soi 90-luvun hiphop ja rap, ja ajatus kulki vapaasti ilman sen suurempaa suunnitelmaa. Jostain mieleen nousi tuttu valokuvaajien kehotus: Say cheese.
Punertavat sävyt, koralli, turkoosin vihreä ja lämmin beige ja pinkki rakentavat teokseen utuisen ja nostalgisen tunnelman. Pinnasta pilkottaa sanoja, muotoja ja pieniä vihjeitä – katsojalle jää tilaa löytää niistä omat merkityksensä.
Aina taiteen ei tarvitse olla vakavaa. Joskus riittää, että se saa hymyilemään.

Say Cheese was born on a day when I wanted to paint something light, joyful and a little playful. 90s hip-hop and rap were playing in the background, and the idea took shape without any particular plan. Somehow, the familiar phrase used by photographers came to mind: Say cheese.
Pastel red shade tones, coral, turquoise green and warm beige and pink create a hazy, nostalgic atmosphere. Words, shapes and little hints emerge from the layered surface, leaving room for the viewer to find their own meanings.
Art doesn't always have to be serious. Sometimes it's enough if it simply makes you smile.
